Training Centres across the UK

As the UK's largest provider of powered access training, our courses can be delivered at over 35 approved training centres strategically placed across the country. Whilst you will always be within close proximity of one of our centres, we can also offer on-site training assuming suitable facilities are available, offering a more time effective alternative. Between our 20 instructors taking 70 courses a week, we qualified over 13,000 IPAF operators, demonstrators and instructors throughout 2007.

Why train?

If your organisation engages in any form of working at height then you have a legal obligation to provide your staff with the correct training. The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 places a duty on the employer to provide an adequate level of training to allow employees to operate equipment safely and competently. You will also see the wider benefits that training can bring about - enhanced company reputation along with the improved development, morale and productivity of your workforce.

It's the law

As an employer, it is not just a requirement, but a duty in law to provide adequate training for your employees. If this is not adhered to, you may become liable to prosecution, which can lead to loss of business, heavy fines and even imprisonment.

Understanding your industry needs

As well as providing training within the construction industry, we work very closely with many other business sectors including Media, Signage, Telecommunications, Facilities Management, M&E, Utilities & Local Authorities to name but a few. With experience and understanding of working at height we can provide a variety of training solutions that suit your specific business needs.

IPAF logo

Since inception, Lavendon Group Companies have been members of the International Powered Access Federation, the foremost recognised standard in the powered access industry. We have employees on their training committee, council and course development section; we are involved in all IPAF group and industry objectives, and initiatives within the powered access industry.

IPAF CAP logo

Since 1998, the law requires all powered access equipment to be "thoroughly examined" on a regular basis by a Competent Person. The IPAF Competent Assessed Person scheme provides guidance through presentations and individually assesses those attending the sessions. Successful assessment provides candidates with the valuable documentation which confirms that IPAF regards them as competent persons to plan, manage or carry out thorough examinations of platforms in the context of current legislation including the Work at Height Regulations, LOLER and PUWER 98.
